St Luke’s is a Christian community in Clovelly, seeking to serve the people of Clovelly as we serve Christ.
We believe not only that people matter but that relationships matter, and that there is nothing more important than good, healthy & loving relationships. We’re ordinary people who’ve discovered God’s extraordinary love for us through Jesus and that has truly changed everything, especially our relationships, and given us hope, meaning and purpose.
We welcome everyone to join us on Sundays and then explore ways to connect with God, with our church community, and to join us in serving our local community.
Sunday services
> 9.30am – Communion service – the best of the Anglican prayerbook, great music, sharing in the
Lord’s supper, & morning tea. Led by Rev. Lindsay Johnstone.
> 4pm – Community church service – a contemporary, relaxed service for all ages, with a kids programme and a light dinner (yes, we feed your kids, and adults too!) Led by Rev. Dave Rogers.
What happens on Sundays?
Our Sunday gatherings are the highlight of our life together. Each Sunday we pray for our community & our world, we hear from the Bible, we sing Jesus’ praises, and we eat together afterwards. We run a kids programme at the Luke’s at four afternoon service. And we do our best to take your questions seriously. The service goes for about an hour.
What’s on for kids?
Kids Church at Luke’s at four caters for preschool, infants & primary children. It runs alongside the 4pm service: we all start together in the church building, and after a kids’ song the children head into the hall next door for Kids church. The programme usually consists of the children learning a bible story, some play time, craft, singing a few songs, and the kids are then provided with dinner! All of our kids church carers have been trained & accredited to safely care for children by the Anglican Church.
And there’s more to our community life!
Our church family is made up of a number of Community Groups – these are localised groups of 6-12 people learning how to follow Jesus together, and usually meet mid-week to read the Bible, pray, and eat. For those investigating Christianity, we run a course called ‘Christianity Explored’ (contact us for more info).
Staff and Leaders
Dave Rogers leads the Luke’s at four church community and gives the sermon on most Sundays. Dave and his wife Meredith live behind Clovelly Rd, and love the sea air, fresh bread and good coffee at the local shops. Dave studied theology for four years and is an ordained Anglican minister. There is an elected Parish Council that administers the property and finances of St Luke’s. And there is a leadership team for Luke’s at four that is comprised of Dave and the Community group leaders.
