Lost in translation > hope for foreigners in 1 Peter

I still remember seeing Sofia Coppola’s Lost in translation, with Bill Murray and Scarlett Johannson playing two characters feeling lost in Tokyo (and life). Not a feel-good popcorn flick, but a moody understated piece that portrayed much of the disconnect, discontent, and alienation of life in a foreign city. (And the one particularly funny scene was a hilariously funny scene, when Bill Murray flies off a treadmill he can’t slow down because the instructions are in Japanese).

For all of us, life can have its moments of feeling lost in translation, alienated, lonely and disconnected. And especially for those who’ve thrown in their lot with Jesus. This winter at St Luke’s we’re exploring the book of 1 Peter, in a series that I’ve titled “Hope for foreigners”. Join the fun every Sunday 9.30am and 4pm.
